A tourist company’s webpage and the ads around

I talked with the manager of one tourist company - www.bulgarianroads.com, about what could be done for improving their advertisements and their website…

They have some ideas like games etc, but.. the world is changing!

For example, now you’re reading this blog, and not some news-like website, right? That’s what I mean. For the successful advertisement and public announcement of a website, it must offer *THAT* which makes people write about it in blogs, forums, etc. Today people just ignore the banners, they are interested in the content which is interesting for THEM, and not in some blinking-shiny ads on a website, or in ads interrupting their favorite movie. Actually, there is use in ads - as much as filling your head with the same word like Coke, Pepsi, Viagra, and make you a zombie in your buying decisions. They tell the customer that the Brand is more important than it’s quality or safety. Do you actually think Pepsi is better than water? Do you really believe it?
I was wondering, what could be done for a website, to make it popular among people, popular enough, so they could start telling each other about it, to start writing about it? hmm.. can’t think of anything specific. You need ideas, fresh ones for the purpose! For example, do you remember the student, who become a millionaire just by selling pixels on his webpage? Google it, you’ll be amazed if you don’t know about him. Ideas sell themselves!
Yeah… ads are important, very important. Do you know that Coca-Cola is investing about 60% of their profit in ads? No, they didn’t start doing this when they won their first million - it’s something they do from the very beginning! Or else, they wouldn’t make the first million, I guess.
It’s good to publish ads. If you have a product and nobody knows about it, what use is there in the product? Even if it saves lives, still - nothing. You’ve polished it, and it just decays on the shelf. You want TV ads - no problem, if your pocket is Deeeeep, if not - stay outtaway. Web banners - could be cheaper, but are probably useless, unless you spend as much money as you would on TV ads. On top of that, people dare Not looking at your ads when they read their daily news?!

What remains? It’s who. The people. If your product is worth talking about - they will. If it’s not, make it. Make it look, at least, worthy talking about. And invest at least some money in ads. It helps!
